Bullying Prevention Month myON Projects

As we are winding down talking about bullying with our students, now is a great time to assign a bullying project in myON having students read more about bullying as a culminating activity.  Below are some of the titles I found when searching bullying in myON.  If you would like any assistance, please let me know.

Keeping It Fun!

Watch the video from the link below to see a teacher who likes to keep it fun.  While some of his ideas seem a little out there, we need to keep in mind fun is the best tool in our teacher toolbox!

Using Chromebook Recording Apps to Document Student Work - It's Not Just for myON Anymore!

Whether you have Chromebook cart you share or a specific number of Chromebooks in your room each day, you can use these devices to have students record their adventure in learning.  Not only can we have the students use G-Suite tools or myON, they can use the Chromebooks as a recording tool as well.  There are two apps on all of our accounts:  The camera and record apps.

Using the Chromebook camera and record apps is a great way to gather student evidence.

Teachers are having students take snapshots of their table or group work.  They save their snapshots to Drive and share as the teacher sees fit.  For example, Some teachers have students post their picture in classroom with an explanation.  Other teachers are having the students use their images and recordings in Slides as an enhancement to their presentations.  There are infinite ways to use the Chromebooks to record.

Send me an email if you would like to learn more.  I look forward to working with you!

Cyberbullying - Reaching Our Students

October is National Bullying Prevention Month.  While we send out emails with resources, I feel very strongly of the importance to teach our students more about cyberbullying.  The Internet takes bullying to the next level bringing unlimited number of people to the ridicule.  Common Sense Education has a plethora of resources on cyberbullying including a "Power of Words" video geared for 3rd-5th grade students but can be used with other grade levels explaining the impact words can have on others.  https://www.commonsense.org/education/lesson/the-power-of-words-3-5

Also, below is an infographic with just a few of the stats involved around cyberbullying.   Let me know if I can help stress the importance of being nice online with your students.

Welcome to My Blog

Welcome!  As your tech coach, I look forward to brainstorming lesson ideas and tech integration with each one of you; however, having 7 schools, it is sometimes hard to see everyone face to face.  I am excited to have this platform to share ideas and tips to help make your job integrating technology easier.

The posts will focus on:

Celebrations of Teachers and Their Lessons
Tech Integration into JPSD 86 Curriculum Map
Tips & Tricks
The Tech Toolbox
Best Practices (with our device distribution model)

To make my posts most beneficial, I will try to correlate each post with the curriculum map.
